About Eedi
Eedi is a UK-based applied research organisation on a mission to improve learning outcomes for a billion students by 2030. Over the last decade, we have developed a deep understanding of how students learn, diagnosing knowledge gaps and the precise support they need to excel.
Our diagnostic engine, built in partnership with leading global foundations and publishers, is grounded in a decade of classroom data. The world's only education-focused AI infrastructure validated by gold-standard science, Eedi makes personalised and adaptive learning accessible to all students, not just those with the means to afford it.
Why we need you
You will be a key member of the board, driving the strategic planning and performance of the business by the provision of effective analysis, modelling and advice.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the business planning and forecasting cycle. You will ensure the right KPIs are in place to track progress against financial targets, while providing the high-level insights necessary for strategic decision-making. We are looking for a strategic architect—someone who anticipates market shifts, thrives on solving complex problems in creative ways, and brings a commercially sound mindset to deal structures and scaling.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
Strategic Board Support
Partner with the senior leadership team on growth planning and scenario modelling.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including rigorous cash flow management.
Own the delivery and presentation of financial information for Board reports, providing risk assessments on our strategic goals.
HR, Legal & Operations
Review and advise on commercial contracts and senior employee agreements.
Recommend and manage bonus or incentive schemes, assessing their long-term impact on company financials.
Manage stock options and equity schemes in coordination with legal counsel, accountants, and HMRC.
Optimise our banking and treasury (e.g., multi-currency accounts, FX risk mitigation, and exploring cash flow options like invoice financing).
Accounting & Controls
Oversee yearly statutory accounts and tax filings in liaison with external accountants.
Review month-end reports (actuals vs budget/forecast) to keep the business on track.
Manage and mentor the finance team, acting as an escalation point for complex accounting issues.
Maintain robust financial policies and processes to mitigate risk across approvals, purchasing, and bank access.
Investment
Manage the financial data room and investment decks for potential investors.
Maintain and manage the company cap table.
You will be a good fit if you
Have a certified accountancy qualification with 8+ years post qualified experience
Have previous experience as a Finance Director
Have direct experience within the SaaS industry.
Possess strong, well-rounded commercial and business awareness.
Thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment and can manage a diverse range of tasks.
Have highly developed stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to operate as an equal partner at Board level.
Are a "big picture" thinker who uses their initiative to solve problems creatively.
Have an agile mindset and a genuine passion for the start-up industry.
Strong candidates may also have
Experience working in a fast-growing EdTech company.
Experience scaling a start-up through significant growth phases.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where will I work?
Eedi is fully remote. From Brighton to Glasgow. We still meet up often though.
What happens at the company off-sites?
They’re a mix of company stuff and fun stuff. Often a morning of presentations, talks/unconference and an evening of food, drink and an activity. Think Crystal Maze, or AR darts, or a hike, or a live Murder Mystery. Even for “corporate-mandatory-fun” it’s actually good fun! They’re often in London but we’ve had off-sites in Brighton, Manchester, The Chilterns… Matlock…and a Summer unconference in Portugal.
Job applications take up so much time! Do you mind if I use AI to speed things up?
At Eedi, we love and embrace AI. However, we only hire humans. We want to get to know you and not the GPT version of you, so please… do not use AI during your initial application.
4 day work weeks, did I read that right?!
Yes! You can optionally choose to compress your full time hours into 4 days and take an extra day off a week once you have passed your probation period. We have Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as core days where everyone works.
When can I start?!
Now.
Just one more thing...
There's one more, very important thing. At Eedi, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We believe that bringing together individuals with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives leads to more innovative solutions and better outcomes for our students. We're proud of the progress we've made in increasing representation across our organisation, and we're always working to do better. We are an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
We don't expect you to be an expert in everything listed above. We're looking for candidates who excel in some areas and have a strong foundation or interest in others. If you meet many of these qualifications but not all, we still encourage you to apply!
We can't wait to hear from you! Let's change the future of learning together!
